Treasurer Jim Chalmers said that the surplus budget will have “new energy rebates and more rent assistance”, all to assist “the most vulnerable”. However, the Greens have pushed back saying that surplus is merely a ploy, noting that the $9.3 billion could have been used to assist Australians in dire straits.
Though the Government looks to implement renewable energy like the ‘Future Made in Australia’ initiative. Greens leader Adam Bandt said that this is just to expand coal and gas.
