State Parliament passes law to save SA’s iconic Cranker

Following persistent community campaigning, a new law protecting Adelaide’s iconic Crown and Anchor Hotel from demolition, has recently passed State Parliament, ensuring its future as a live music venue.

The agreement with developer Wee Hur Holdings Ltd permits a 29-storey building next door but preserves the hotel and its role.

The law also mandates noise controls for new housing near live music venues and establishes a committee to review the impact of recent venue closures in South Australia.
