Rising myopia in children linked to lack of outdoor activity

The number of cases of myopia in children is rising, according to research from SpecSavers.

The research found 3 quarters of Australian children don’t do outdoor activities, leading to a rise in cases of myopia, and 1 in 7 children have never had an eye test.

Some simple tasks like having regular check-ups and 2 hours of outdoor activities can mitigate the risk of the condition.

If untreated, the condition could develop into glaucoma or retina detachment.
