Cyclone Alfred to hit QLD-NSW border region

For the first time in decades, a cyclone is set to impact Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales, with authorities urging residents to prepare for severe weather. Officials warn Cyclone Alfred poses a significant risk of flooding and isolation, with SES Commissioner Mike Wassing describing it as “three natural disasters in one” due to the combination of strong winds, heavy rain, and high tides.  The Gold Coast and down to Byron could be worst hit.

Panic buying has already begun, with supermarket shelves stripped bare, while those in vulnerable housing situations face the greatest risk. Residents have been urged to act now, with emergency responders preparing for evacuations and widespread damage across the region.
