NASA’s Orion capsule successfully reached the Moon yesterday, conducting a low pass before burning its engines to reach a wide orbit. This unmanned mission is part of the agency’s Artemis program, if successful the next step is a manned orbital mission, with a manned landing planned for 2025. In a BBC Interview the day before, Artemis director Howard Hu stated NASA plans to have astronauts living on the Lunar surface by 2030, creating a research outpost and pit stop for further space exploration.
