Juvenile in Adult Detention as Facilities Overflow

Several juvenile offenders have been held in detention in adult watchhouse facilities for over 30 days following an overflow of juvenile inmates from juvenile detention facilities.

One instance had a juvenile offender in detention at a watchhouse for 33 days, leading to a significant deterioration in health.

The Queensland state juvenile has recently been inundated with juvenile offenders, as activists call for the state to lessen the punitive practices of the Queensland youth justice system.
