WA Premier apologises for incarceration and in situ burial of Indigenous Australians on Rottnest Island

A weeklong cultural ceremonies have come to a close on Wadjemup this week to acknowledge the Aboriginal men and boys who were incarcerated and laid in situ on Rottnest Island’s burial ground.

Thousands of people including significant Aboriginal Elders and community groups from all over Western Australia gathered to commemorate its dark history, with Premier Roger Cook making a formal apology.
