As political leaders and experts deliberate over the Federal governments proposed partial ban on gambling adverts, the impacts from gambling still remain very real across the country.
One in five Victorians who gamble may be experiencing harm from their gambling, while 2014-2015 saw the total cost of gambling in the Victorian Community reach $7 billion – that’s according to former Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
The Mornington Peninsula, South of Melbourne, is one of those areas most affected by gambling. Mornington Peninsula Shire Councillor, Despi O’Connor worked alongside the late MP, Peta Murphy, and she wants the government to do more on a gambling ad ban.
