Youths arrested among 170 climate protesters at Newcastle Port blockade

170 people have been arrested after forming a blockade and pausing activity at the world’s largest coal port in Newcastle yesterday.

Thousands of protesters gathered at the port on the third day of unrest, calling on the Albanese government to rule out new coal and gas mines and place a 78% tax on coal and gas exports.
